To be religious, a God's worshipper is the apanage of the most important part of the population in the emerging countries. Each action, each act they undertake is God's will. But the freedom of cult must not be taken for granted. For exemple, in Nepal that has the reputation of being a laic country, a bomb blew up in de midst of the catholic cathedral in Kathmandu. This terrorist act was claimed by the Nepal Defence Army, an armed group requiring the return of monarchical power and of Hinduism as state religion.
In India, the religions are characterised by a huge diversity of practices and faiths. India is the cradle of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and houses Muslims, Christians, Protestants, Jewish. Despite a viewable agreement and understanding, troubles between some of them are a usual fact.
Nevertheless, in India as in Nepal, religion plays a major role in people's daily life. The rituals, the cults and other religious activities mirror an important part of the social life.
